I did not taste the spices right away, but after a couple of sips , I could feel it in the back of my throat. It was something new. I would recommended to try it at least once. swoopjones (1923), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Sample from 22oz bomber. Light to medium amber color. Peppery, slight smokey aroma. Harsh hot chipotle burn. Like it on my tacos but not in my beer. Naka (526), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2008 A very clear weak amber color. A tiny fizzy with head. Sweet toffee with a touch of fruit and a peppery hint in the top of your nose. A lot of taste characteristics of a traditional amber; caramel malts, not a whole lot of bitterness, but after you drink it, you get a smokey peppery flavor. Very interesting but there seems to be a bit of a disconnect between flavors. There needs to be something to tie them together. DrHomolka (731), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 26, 2008 Bomber. Pours and orange color with a small white head. Aroma is like a subdued American Barley Wine. Nice balance of sweet, sugary malts and some citrusy hops. Grapefruit, orange, iced tea, brown sugar all present though very subtle and all balanced together. No trace of any pepper or spice in the aroma. Taste is smooth, a little watery, with a quick finish. Bitterness is low. Honestly the chipotles don’t even make their presence known really. I think I can sense some heat or spice on the back end but I could just be reaching. This is all right though nothing I would buy again. JohnnyJ (1352), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Pours a reddish amber with white head. Malty/grain flavors with definite smoke in the back ground. Slightly sweet and a little bit of burn and pepper flavor. Its really pretty good. Not a fan of the style, but still enjoyable. jfenglish (217), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Dark orange amber in color, no head. Sweet malty aroma, no chipotle yet. Nice malty taste- very slight kick at the finish- just enough "burn" to try and offset the sweetness. Overall though just a bit too sweet for me, needs more hops to balance. I like a lot of the Rogue Ales- this one a bit gimmicky? Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 9, 2008 A surprisingly understated concoction with reliable Rogue consistency that shows through in many facets of this refreshing beer. Orange/red/copper color in warm tone to match the chipotle concept. Fun sudsy head. Main weakness is the subdued nose. Strengths include excellent palate, good choice of malts and hops that integrate well, and a mild chili afterburn that is complemented by both initial sweetness and lingering bitterness. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Amber color with an off white head, doesnt look like any blonde ale ive had before. Has a mild hop aroma with not much else, flavor is mild but nice, gives a slight numbing sensation in the mouth. I was hoping for a little smoked spiciness in the flavor, but the numbness is the only indication of any chipotle. This is easy to drink and a little different, definitely better than a normal blonde ale (not much of a fan of those).
