Commercial Description:
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue's Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole' black and tan!

The color was light brown/orange. The head was very creamy, frothy, foamy, light beige, and light lacing. The aroma was a soured milk smell, spice, and sour. The flavor was sour, spice, peppery, but it wasn’t as strong as I expected it to be. The palate was thin-bodied. The finish was abrupt. I was a little disappointed by this beer.

Not bad for the novelty that it is. Pours deep rusty red, small head. Aroma is pretty smoky, tastes of smoked meats and somewhat peppery. Not recommended as an anytime beer, but would go very nicely with chili and similar dishes.

Poured an amber brew with a thick (aggressively poured) head with a creamy consistency and leaves some lace. The aroma smelled sour like an amber ale with some spices in it. The flavor tastes just like an amber ale with some slight spice. Has more of a spicy character than I expected.

22oz Bottle. Pour is golden orange with a healthy off white head. Aroma is a bit earthiness, with some pepper spiciness. Taste is a bit sweet at the beginning, then a touch of spice comes out in the middle through the finish. I was expecting a spicy beer, and this was a lot more balanced than expected. Overall, quite drinkable beer.

Pours hazy amber. Starts sweet, some smoke, caramel. Almost has kind of a tomato juice flavor. Finishes spicy with a slow burn. Kind of strange.

Smoky aroma, dark brown in color. Hints to rauchbeir and it’s smoked malts, But is more complex. Flavor is deep and smoky, with a slow burn at the end. Strange beer, but worth trying.

Aroma is malty, with hints at a peppery spice and smoke. Pours a caramelly amber. The flavor is more smokey than peppery, but after a few you defnitely feel the burn in the back of your throat. Still its not bad. Especially if you like rauchbier.

650ml brown bottle. Pours a caramel brown colour, hazy. Thin white cap. Aroma is sweetish, caramel notes with a light note of red pepper. Flavour is also caramelly at the start, finishes with light smoke, citrus hops and some red pepper flake type heat, though mild. Body is light, fine prickly carbonation.
