| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 15, 2009 Pours a dark amber color, with a small amount of white head. Initial taste isn’t bad but the aftertaste is spicy and lingers in your mouth. This is the worst beer I have had from Rogue. I definitely won’t be having this one again. mkel07 (526), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2009 650ml bottle. Bright golden orange in colour with a tidy white head that is rather small. Aroma of chilli and peppers hits the nose but is not too overpowering. Musty and smoky flavour with medium bitterness. BrotherGrendel (591), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy orange hue with light white head. Nose is light peppery spices, mole, and Munich malts. Flavor is peat-like malts followed quickly by chipotle pepper heat and spice, finishes lightly malty with a blend of spice and alcohol heat. A great beer in the same line of strong rauchbiers in terms of unique spice and flavor. This would pair amazingly with mexican food or BBQ! williamherbert (466), Syracuse, New York, USA

Three fingers of head. Hazy light orange. Depth changes with change in lighting. Looks thick and hazy. Only wispy specks of lace remain.
Has a smoky aroma, smoky malt. Smell is actually not that strong, considering. It’s pleasant and interesting but weak.
Serious smoky BBQ flavor with a spicy jalapeño pepper taste. Aftertaste is a spicy, smoky bite. Has a seriously pungent flavor, sits on the back of the tongue like BBQ. Almost burns the palate.
Feel is thick and chunky. Sandpapery. Leaves a smoky film. In fact, the overall word is "smoky." It’s sweet but pungent. Really interesting. KnN (743), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 21, 2009 Poured a rich ruby/amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma was smoke and spice, some cinnamon and sweet malt. Flavor was smokey, but not overwhelmingly so, there’s a bit of a hoppiness in there that comes through as bitter. Not a bad beer at all. Wish I’d had some Mexican food to go along with. Would have paired nicely. Maverick34 (709), New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 21, 2009 This is a beer that needs a good food pairing. And I found it at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill in Manhattan. The nuevo southwestern cusiine blended perfectly with what is basically a pale ale dominated by chipotle. Which works, in context. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2009 22oz bottle purchased at McKinnon’s. Pours a slightly hazy red body with a quarter inch of off-white head. Smells predominantly like chipotle peppers. Chipotle pepper dominates the flavor too, a bit of a sweetness with fruit, caramel and cinnamon-like notes and a subtle hotness toward the finish. Light to medium in body with ample carbonation. Fairly drinkable, though the subtle hotness gets to me after a while. An interesting beer for sure - never had a chile beer before and I can’t say I think I’ll be a fan of the style. Glad to have tried it, well worth the try, but I don’t foresee picking this one up again... tronraner (1932), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Draught. Pours golden amber with a thin, tight whitish head. The aroma is sweet caramel, cotton candy, some smoke, and a woody hint. The flavor is mild smoky chipotle with a little bit of a dusty caramel backbone. There is a faint peppery/spicy note back there, somewhere, too. Dusty finish. Pretty tasty, but I enjoy pepper beers.
