The flavor is pretty much chipotole. If you like thin American beers which taste like smoked pepper than this is for you. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 10, 2006 Updated: Nov 11, 2006My evil wife went to Wild Oats because she is trying to get rid of allergies and eat more natural foods. She opens the bag and pulls this out, "tried this one?" No have not! Well, the aroma smells like chipotle, what a shocker (there are some pale malts in the background). The flavor is dominated by chipotle, which is smokey and peppery. There is some caramel and fruitiness that blends in. The mildly bitter finish is followed by a small hot pepper bite that lingers nicely. If you like Chipotle, you should like this beer. I doubt this was easy to develop. Hats off to Rogue for a unique beer. However, this beer really begs to be paired with food. Maybe Tacos Carne Asada with some Pico De Gallo and fresh guacamole. cyanescens (159), Seattle, Washington, USA

Although beer and peppers sounded very odd to me, I thoroughly enjoyed this brew. Ibrew2or3 (2833), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2006 Kind of hazy brown color with thin off white head. Very nice roasted-smoked malt aroma with a chili kick. The flavor has rich roasted-smoked maltiness followed by a light vegetable chili flavor. Tasty brew. kimcgolf (835), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 2, 2006 I love peppers, and I love beer. I even love eating peppers while I’m drinking beer. But a beer whose primary (almost sole) noticeable ingredient IS peppers? No thanks. Rogue makes many good beers, and I’ve enjoyed most of them, but I’ll pass on this one. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 25, 2006 Poured hazy amber with a normal/abundant amount of head, which formed in some large bubbles. Aroma is very malty, bready, and pleasant. Previously, I’d had another chile beer which turned me off from this category, so I was a bit reluctant to take a sip. Flavor was extremely malty on the nose, with a bit of spice on the back-end. Not great, but not awful. Although I love chiles, spicy food, and preparing and eating all the foods that go with that (salsa, guacamole, anything Mexican, spicy tomato sauces and so on), after these two experiments with chile beers, I think I’m not going to meddle with this category further in the future.

Fruity nose with citrus, grapefruit and some peppery notes. Fruity taste with dark fruit, figs, earthy/dusty hops and a distinct peppery bite in the finish. Quite interesting and well balanced pepper character. harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England
