Murky rusty brown and a decent tan head was OK, but the almost oily lacing was a downer - not that there was much of it. The chipotle aroma show up early, but I found it to be no more than a hint of smoke. Sweet malts and hops as well. I found this to be pretty two dimensional in the flavour dept. with soft malts and smoke pretty much dominating. The slight heat that mixes in with the malt almost nullifies the hop taste and the bitterness is replaced witha slow creeping heat. Good mix! I did find that I enjoyed this more before it warmed. The flavour should make you puke but doesn’t even retch the stomach (wow, that will make you want to spend your hard earned money on it...). Mouthfeel was empty but not watery. Roof of my mouth was left with a nasty bitterness. Interesting beer and probally worth another purchace down the road. Cirrhosis (619), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Beer looks reddish brown that’s slightly cloudy, the head that was produced at pour vanished in ten seconds not even leaving a skiff of bubbles floating on my beer. The smell is very leathery and had a touch of chipotle, very strange smell and was a touch weak. The taste surprised me was not nearly as bad as I was imagining it would be. Just like the smell the flavor is very leathery and mixed with hot sauce but not over powering, the mouth feel felt a bit flat and could of used a touch more carbonation. Diffentatly not a great beer or a beer I would go out of my way to try again, but it is worth it to give this sucker a try at least once if only to say you’ve had a beer made with smoked jalapeno peppers. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Rogue Chipotle Ale is a hazy amber beer with a fluffy yellow head that has great retention. It smells like a home brew. There are green, grassy notes in the nose, but I’m not picking up any pepper. It has a medium-light body that’s smooth and creamy with a clean, dry finish. There’s a roasted malt flavor up front and then the taste of smoky chipotle kicks in. There’s not much spice, but plenty of flavor. It’s well balanced and very drinkable. terrybail (338), London, Ontario, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2009 Draft. Orange amber with a white head. Spicy, as in pepper spice, peppers, chili powder and chipotle of course. Tangy pepper linger and if your a pus for spice like me this is dam spicy but it was a change of pace and ill give credit for this, not quite the punch of Ithaca’s smells like burning. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 4, 2009 Bottle. Poured amber with a beige head. Aroma of band-aids, spice, light citrus, malt. Taste is also a little on the strange side, though the pepper is more apparent than in the nose. Mouth was carbonated and light. Finish was lightly bitter. Overall, a strange and okay brew.
