Commercial Description:
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue's Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole' black and tan!

Measurements: 12 degrees Plato, IBU 35, Apparent attenuation 82, Lovibond 23

Hard to drink because of the spice- and I love spicy stuff! Had a bit of smokiness to it along with the burning flavor in the back of your throat. Couldn’t finish it, but a heartburn inducing unique brew.

Could’ve been a bad day for me, but I just couldn’t finish this. I love chipotle but it overpowered this beer--my tongue was burning 3/4 of the way through the bottle. I still liked the flavor, but would suggest sharing if buying a bottle.

clear copper pour, fuzzy yellow head malty and kinda smoky aroma, a bit of grass, maybe lactic acid also tastes like a somewhat boring copper ale with a couple of drops of chipotle tabasco sauce interesting but not really a great beer

On tap at Hop Devil Grill in Manhattan. Lightly spicy aroma of peppers. Clear orange color with a small white head. Malty mild medicine beginning with a moderate spicy burn finish to the end. As I finished the bottle of this the burn became stronger.

Pours a amberish color qith a small head. aromas of caramel malt, some smoke and a small pepper tingle. Flavor is of chipotle ppepers right off the bat. It has a nice tingle on your tongue and throat, but seems too much. The peppers overpower the whole brew. Can taste some caramel malts and smoke in there as well. Interesting.

Very nice appearance and pour. Tastes very much more like spice and less pepper than I would have liked. Not much depth, but very drinkable.

Bottled. Deep amber with a good white head. Smells of smoke, chipotle, some malt. Tastes alot like chipotle with more spice than i expected, along with smoke or ash flavors. Good beer, maybe needs more backbone.
