FishManLA (143), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA May 10, 2008 I’m not a huge fan of adjuncts in beer, but as adjuncts go, chipotle was an interesting one. The pepper is obvious on the nose and in the taste. In fact, in my opinion, it’s a little overdone. The other component in the nose and the taste is of bread, so this beer is sort of like a liquid version of spreading chipotle jelly on bread. Tingly with pepper on the palate. Chipoltle finish, just as eating peppers lingers on the tongue. Interesting to have tried once, but it will never be a favorite style of mine.
jujubeast6000 (447), Houston, Texas, USA Jun 28, 2008 (bottle): Pours a very golden body, big creamy foamy head, diminishing. Smokey hoppy aroma, not quite cigarette but close, not ashy. Smokey, malty taste, more chipotley now. Not sweet, not hoppy. Clean aftertaste. The smoke is subtle, would go well w/bbq, or any grilled meat. BelgianRed (7), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA does not count Jun 26, 2008 This setting isn’t conducive to a beer like this one getting lots of rating love, but then again, this beer isn’t for everyone. When it is fresh, on draught or from the bottle, it’s at its best--zesty and lively, with a snarl of intensity that but this is about context: have it with an appropriate food pairing. It also is vulnerable to the after effects of what I’ve had just before it, so after a Stone IPA, the Rogue tasted like soap...which wasn’t ideal. A cool, delicious (not after IPA!), quirky beer. realbama (21), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jun 20, 2008 I have had this a few times. Sometimes I think its great, other times I think its shit. It definately has a great aroma and average look. I cant put my finger on what I dont like. Perhaps I am just not that big of a chipotle fan anyways. I recommend you try this one just to say you have though. Descent. Haslinger (430), Syracuse, New York, USA Jun 17, 2008 22 ounce bottle, solid spicy aroma, not spicy like a Belgian but spicy like a Mexican meal spicy, rather appealing smell to be honest. The pour is golden with a foamy white head. The taste is immediately spicy but finishes with a rich malt taste that is totally overshadowed by the lingering taste of spice. Very good beer I liked this one a lot. One of the better Rogue’s I havae had.Would buy again, EDIT: I would not buy again. This beer is incredibly hard to finish in the bomber sized by yourself and it makes you want to vomit bc it is over the top spicy and leaves you stomach in knots. No buy again. dutch23mp (81), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA Jun 14, 2008 The finish of the peppers is just right as towards the end it is most pronounced. Well balanced with the hops complementing the peppers.
