It has a strong roasted chocolate malt aroma. It is sweet, dark and a bit fruity. It is smooth and full bodied; soft with a snappy finish. It is a very full flavor: pretty sweet and quite bitter. It’s like dark chocolate with a touch of citrus. The flavor is well balanced. This beer is almost like a liqueur. Damn. I can find no fault with this beer. I think it’s the best beer I’ve ever had. topher40409 (36), gainesville, Florida, USA

Had this beer a few days after really enjoying their Shakespeare Stout. I have this considerable thought, but I really feel that this beer tops it. Features an delicious dark chocolate aroma and a full bodied, rich, creamy toasted chocolate flavor. Perfect medium carbonation and smooth hop-roast finish. Touch of molasses at the end adds flavor and balance to this brew. dchmela (1451), Orlando, Florida, USA

Aroma is almost chocolate milk, but more roasted grains start coming out as it warms. Taste is dry, chocolaty, with a hoppy bitterness and lots of the roasted grains. Very solid beer. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2008 Man, I remeber this beer better than I what I tasted today. Still a solid brew and still the best sweet stout out there but I found the chocolate flavor to be not as prominant as in earlier Rogue choco stouts. The chocolate flavor and aroma just seems to be toned down from previous tastings. All things considered still a smooth sweet brew and well balanced. This will require more research ;) beerchugger (306), Colorado, USA

The smell of sweet chocolate is immediate and dutifully powerful. Small notes of roased coffee can be found among the striking flavor of chocolate truffel on the palate. The hopps finish it to help balance the sweet chocolate. This is a great stout with terrific chocolate flavor. carruthm (1162), Seattle, Washington, USA
