| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Bomber from West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago. Opaque black with medium creamy brown head. Aroma is big chocolate and roast with nice spicy backbone. Flavor is also chocolate and roast with sprucey, pine like hop presence and all around very nice flavor, but I wonder what "natural chocolate flavor" means. Medium creamy body. Very nice and pleasing. popkow (113), New York, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Creamy head but after beating that away left a middle of the road chocolate stout. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 27, 2008 Updated: Dec 22, 2009Black with a low but dense brown head and some nice lacings. The aroma blows me away, but then again I am also a sweet chocolate stout maniac! It has BIG notes of chocolate (!), caramel, orange, cocoa, and a bit of cinnamon. The flavour is somewhat different being bitter to begin with, then moving into some sweeter regions of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and roasted malts. It is light-bodied with lots of tiny carbonation-bubbles. This beer reminds me why I am in love with the American beer tradition. hopson (595), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 27, 2008 a very substantial and tasty beer that is worth going back to. Chocolate is there, sure. But, so is some nice cascade bitterness that really works well. Creamy, thicker mouthfeel makes this one of the best in class for chocolate stouts. JEB12345 (13), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Tap. Dark beer. Came out with a large rolling head (love it when beer does that). Large head that lasted a while. Aroma of hops and bittersweet chocolate. Has a definite chocolate taste. Almost like drinking a chocolate bar. A bit of hops on the finish makes sure the sweetness keeps in check. Very good beer. Easy stout to drink. OSLO (828), Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 22, 2008 [Bottle, thanks Philsner] Pours dark brown with a pretty good sized tan head that lingers nicely. Aroma is really big on citrusy hops when poured cold with subdued milk chocolate also present, but when allowed to warm a little it is like smelling a glass of milk chocolate. Aroma is huge, and although one-dimensional, very nice. Taste is fairly bitter from the citrusy hops up front, but then transitions into a deep roast with a surprisingly small amount of chocolate present. Medium-thin mouthfeel with an average finish that has some chocolate but is largely bitterness from the hops. The aroma was the high point of this beer for me, with the palate somewhat lacking and the taste surprisingly low on chocolate taste. Not bad. LeMunche (66), Orland Park, Illinois, USA
