Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours a copper red with a nice white head - nice aroma of hops, fruit and some caramel. There were not any surprises with the taste - hops, citrusy, toffee, cramel and some bitterness. Finished fairly creamy though with a little bit of an alcohol kick to it... definitely not as overwhelming on the alchol scent and taste as the Double Dead Guy Ale. Solid Brew.

12 oz bottle. Hazy golden amber color. Nice head that left lace on the side on the way down. Nice hoppy head aroma with an undertone of maltiness. Starts hoppy and citrusy flavored, ends with a little hops bitterness.

Cloudy orange colored brew. Hoppy and citrus aroma. Hoppy and bitter flavor, slightly fruity and the texture is a bit thin.

Poured a nice orange amber. Had it in a draft and was no pleased. Would like to try it out of a bottle.

Light, fizzy, orange body. Citrus aroma. Quite Hoppy with caramel and peaches in the finish.

Bottled as white crane. Pours a gently hazed dark amber color with a monstrous popcorn colored head white deflates down to a manageable size. Aromas of sweet malt and toast and toffee. Medium thick body with a bit of sweetness. Slowly developing, but all too quickly receding bitter finish. Nicely balanced, but almost seems like something is being held back, and that this beer could just be a little bit more forward.

Sweet malt aroma. Cloudy orange color with a medium white head. Sweet flavor in the beginning that mellows in the finish.
