Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours a four-finger creamy head that fades quickly to a ring leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Hoppy nose. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is sweet/hoppy then a serious hoppy/bitter finish that doesn’t really linger. $1.89 for a 12oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. Dead Guy is an alias for White Crane Bitter Ale it isn’t anything like Dead Guy, different ABV, different look & taste: White Crane pours a four finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy brown/amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Malty/hoppy nose. Flavor is an almost sweet caramel, the hops are trying to dominate. $2.30 for a 12oz bottle from Glen Beverage Glen, NH.

This is a session drinker! Pours a hazy orange amber with a 2 finger head. Lacing is pretty clingy and thick. Smell is of sweet barley and hops. Well balanced aroma. Slightly spicy. Taste is spot on my definition of ALE! Barley and hops are in perfect unison here. Not too much of either, and not too little. Sweet roasted, nutty barley and floral citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is excellent! Getting the slight tingle from the bitterness and the slight thickness from the extra amounts of grains in here. Carbonation compliments both. Drinkability is perfect. This is an all niter here! I’m still relatively new to the craft beer universe, but this and Dogfish’s 60 min IPA are my favorites! These are my go tos when I’m at the bar. Congrats to Rouge for another excellent beer!

bottle: pint glass: Great brew! My first Heller Bock and very happy with the choice! Poured a very deep brown, loads of visible carbonation which left almost 2 fingers of head. At first it seemed thin and easy to drink, realized the brew was too cold. After letting it sit, the flavors began to pop out... tons of malts, almost some oatmeal. Undertones of citrus and earth, piny and bitter. Very nice balance going on here...

0,33 l bottle, bought in Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam.
When i opened my bottle it flushed out like a fontain...The beer has a murky amber body with a medium off-white head what diminishes to a small lacing one.. Interesting and unidentifiable aroma. I do not know if i like it or no....It might be some malt and some sourish yeast with some fruits and some caramel. somesomesome. I am embarassed....Is this stuff an ale or a lager one? Or was it made with ale-yeasts on a lower temperature? Freaky beer...The flavor is malty and fruity with a bit of hop and honey. I do not know, i do not know....

Not sure what all the fuss is about this beer. Decided to shell out the $7 for a bottle. The overwhelming hop bitterness cancels out any malt taste. Faint malt aroma. Light body with a clean finish.

bottle: the label glows in the dark!!! Pours orangy gold with nice foamy head. Sweet and malty with a nice bitter finish. Great spicy notes. Maybe its just because I’ve having so much oktoberfests, but it reminded me of that style... thirst quenching.

Pours hazy gold with an off white head. Aroma is earthy hops and light fruit notes. The flavor was bitter grassy hops and sweet caramel like malts. Finish is bitter. I’m on the fence over this beer.

pours out a pale cloudy yellow in color with a thin off white head that fell really fast, i barely got it to form one. the body is a cloudy oarnge and has no bubbles that i can see rising in the glass. the aromas are a sweet pale malt with apples and grass. there is slight thin lacing along the glass. there is a sweet toffee and caramel taste with a nice hoppy kick that was sutel and finished pretty dry. the aftertaste is toasted malt and a resinous hop taste on the sides of the tongue. thin to meduim bodied with nice carbonation and mouthfeel.
