Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

65cl bottle from Village Wine and Spirits (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy orange amber color with a one finger white-tan puffy foamy head that settles slowly and somewhat laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty with some notes of honey and spice. Sight notes of hops. Flavor is also sweet and malty with stronger notes of honey, caramel, spice, and gentle grapefuity-hops toward finish. Generally a light to medium-bodied ale with a somewhat pleasing malty, sweet and slightly bitter finish.

Honey and malts whack you in the nose right away. The color is a rich gold, almost broth-like and nearly opaque. I certainly detect the honey in the flavor, but also a medium amount of hops. The palate is lively and prolonged. A winner in nearly all respects. I would have personally preferred a little hoppier brew.

A wonderful microbrew from the state of Oregon. Loved this beer from the first sip, poured with a dark gold color with an off-white head. Great malt flavor, would recommend to any US microbrew enthusiast. Finished the whole 6-pack.

Pretty orange color with a finger of off white head made up of medium sized bubbles that swell and pop rapidly to leave just a cover. Mostly malty aroma. Fruity honey and hops. Some metallic malt flavors with piney hops and a nice toasty finish.

This beer pours a coppery color with a few fingers of creamy foam. The aroma is slightly malty, very clean. The flavor is malty with some caramel. This is balanced out with some hoppiness. The body is medium as is the carbonation. This beer is pretty clean tasting. Not a favorite, but definitely worth drinking.
