Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly orange amber with a medium white head that disappers quickly. Aroma is a mix of piney and citrus hops with caramel. Flavor is caramel, hops, nutty, bready, honey. Interesting beer, pretty nice.

Pours deep copper color with a soft fluffy head. Aroma isn’t much to speak of, some malt, musty hops. Flavor is sweet, and I think is the best part of the beer. Not that it’s all that complex or mind blowing, but it has about the right sweetness for a german-style beer, and the hops linger on the back end. Malt is definitely the biggest player in this one.

This bock poured a copper colour with a nice, fast living, creamy head. To the nose there are scents of hopps, juniper berries, sweet malt and a little caramel. First taste was slightly hoppy with a nice malty finish. Flavours of hopps/juniper not overpowering, nice amount. Palate is sweeter than normal with a slight taste of caramel and more sweet malt.

Bottle. Poured a rich golden color, with a marginal head. Has a very slight spicy taste with a mildly hoppy finish. A good alternative beer when you want something a little out of the ordinary.
