Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

One of the better Rogue beers. Nice aroma. Terrific finish. Haven’t had a Rogue beer yet that I haven’t enjoyed. Rogue is at the top of my list!

I’ve read other reviews and was shocked that DGA didn’t get the praise that it deserves. This is the perfect beer! It’s bitter and hoppy but it gos down smooth. I don’t know what this fridge temperature talk is about...you gotta drink this stuff luke warm. The coolest thing about this beer is that its tap is a skull...that’s friggin awsome. Praise be to rogue because they rock it somethin fierce.

Probably my favorite beer from Rogue. Could be my favorite beer of all time. I like the smell of it just as much as the taste.

This brew is like a mouth full of full flavored hops. The dead guy has a wonderful aroma that you just want to dip you nose in. Takes amber to the extreme. Very tasty!

Very drinkable. I’m not experienced enough to know what gives this beer it’s complex flavor, but there’s a prominent nutty-citrusy flavor throughout. Not real bitter. I nice introduction to good beer. :::::UPDATE::::: Had this Halloween ’09 after a couple more years of beer-drinking experience. WHAT A GREAT BEER! It’s unique and easy-drinking...but with some muscle behind it. [Raised a 4.3 rating to a 5.0]

Love it, my current favorite commercial beer (American anyway). Not really a beer that one can categorize, but if a bunch of Germans wanted to brew an ale for Americans, this would be the beer they come up with. APA + Alt + Maibock = Dead Guy

Great color. Malty with a healthy hop bitterness. Sweet on the front with a long lingering rich caramel aftertaste. John Maier is the man!
