Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Aroma is malty and a bit sweet. This is definitely a beer whose aroma does not betray it’s flavor. strong flavor of caramelized malt, slight taste of grapefruit. Bitterness is chorus to this concert of flavor. Wide spread distribution helps propagate the popularity of this beer. Maybe a slightly overratted

Warm golden amber pour into pub glass from a bomber picked up locally yielded only a small head but lots of lacing. Probably my pour technique which doesn’t return much foam. The smell is as rich as any beer I’ve ever tried, strong yeast essences along with a robust carmel and roasted barley. Taste is very bold caramel and malt, a hint of sweetness and bitter hops but a very well rounded full figured taste. Another amazing Rogue ale.

A nice full bodied beer. Pours nice with small head. Color is lighter then expected from the full bodied taste. Warm on the tongue with notes of caramel, well hopped to perfect balance

Bottle. pours a clear orange color with a small white head. Head dissipates to nothing. Nose is lightly fruity with a biscuity note. Palate is full and firm with a light film and a bitter finish. Flavors of light fruity notes like peaches and apricots, biscuity malt notes, and a firm fizzy and bitter finish.

Pours a murky bronze with standard white head. Aroma of caramel and raisin. Flavor is straightforward of caramel malt and raisin. A slight whiskey finish. I wouldn’t seek it out but wouldn’t pass it down.

Bottle at Hashigo Zake. Pours hazy amber, off white head. Sweet candyish malt aroma, lime citrus hop.
Quite sweet initial malt hit, backed up nicely by earthy hops. A great balance between malt & hops, with a dry finish.
Just yum.
