Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

this is a safety net beer, one i can find a lot of places that i like more than other common micros. its buttery like movie theatre popcorn, only there is not corn just popped hops? thats a strange one but the way i feel. stone fruit too, not peach, not nectarine, not apricot but somehow a concoction of all of them. i dig rogue and dont know what a heller bock is but when i’m in louisville at the outlook and the bourbon is too much i reach for a dead guy.

Bottled, China. Hazy murky brown, quick beige head. Slightly toffeeish nose with marzipan and old barnyard hay. Some berries. Flavor is citric, malty, bitter hops with some nuttiness. Pretty good, but far from heller bock as I know them. More like an IPA maybe, or just a strong ale. Decent mouthfeel with smooth carb.
