| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Deep amber pour with a foamy head that lasts. Aroma of caramel malts, citrus hops and some light fruit. Flavor is big and malty. The hops are not quite enough to balance, although it doesn’t get too sweet. Nice spicy hop finish. Above average, but not great. TheBeerGod (3157), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Rusty amber pour with only a small ring of foam on the surface. Nose is spicy hops, floral notes, caramel, and chewy malts. Light fruit notes as well. Taste is more spicy hops, citrus fruits, floral notes, caramel and chewy malts. None of the 9.5% ABV to be found. Body is medium-full and rather chewy. Slight warmth to this despite the lack of obvious alcohol. Finishes with more spicy hops, toffee, chewy malts, caramel, and floral notes. Nice! durhambeer (1215), Durham, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Sample at WBF in Durham. Thank god I didn’t have to pay the big bucks just to try this one (though it was pretty tasty... just not worth paying extra for the fancy bottle, etc.). Clear reddish amber pour with off-white head. Caramel malt and lightly barley flavor. Hoppy, but not dominantly so. Pretty much what you’d expect if you’re familiar with Dead Guy, just more so... but thankfully non-cloying and the alcohol was well hidden. kiefdog (1609), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a clear reddish brown with one finger off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is wet sweet malt, cooked veggies (especially an aroma of peas), slight candy sugar and maybe just a hint f ripe fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty with strong hoppy and bitter notes, grass, hay, and maybe some spice. Light to medium body with a bitter finish. The alcohol is apparent in the aroma and it covers up the other flavors. When tasting, the alcohol is not as apparent, but I found that the malt, hops and alcohol all seemed to cancel each other out and resulted in no particular flavor winning out. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Crystal amber with lace-inducing frothy like a sea wave - head. Nose of caramelized brown sugar, wilted flowers, and spiced coffee cake. Flavors like oldspice sprayed hops slipping to bitter throat rubs. Burnt sugar, unripe citrus rind and a smidgen of subtle tangerine. Alcoholic afterthoughts with just a touch of caramelized sweetness behind.
