Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Dull amber brown with a big, rocky head. Smells a little big metallic, caramelly. Firm body. Caramelly/earthy taste, tasty and subtlely complex malts, and I like the dry, alcoholic finish.

bottle. Poured dark amber, topped with a moderate-sized tan head. Aroma of yeast, hops, toffee, grain and some vegetal character. Aroma was unmistakably Rogue. Flavor of caramel, earthy hops, yeast, and grain. Moderately bitter finish. It’s not bad, but the pricey bottle will likely keep me from ever trying it again.

Draft at blind tiger. Pretty good but to tell you the truth I was in the bag and it tasted a lot like regular dead guy.

750 ml ceramic bottle purchased at Beverages for Less in Santee. Very tasty. I liked the malt, toffee, and caramel. The hops were present but not to overpowering.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 26 Sep 2008) Dark amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit and orange peel, slightly vinous. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, caramel and a decent spicy bitterness in the finish. Full bodied, rather sweet and vinous with warming alcohol coming through as it gets warmer. Nice balance. Powerful and tasty beer.

Bottle. Clear amber. Large rocky head, lovely lacing. Surprisingly fruity nose. Alcohol is detectable there. Solid and quaffable mouthfeel. Firm body. Good, straightforward balance with alcohol sweetness wiping the palate clean. Nice brew!

Bottle (2008) from BevMo, La Mesa. Listed @ 9%. Deep amber in color. Sticky sweet malty aroma. A hint of hoppiness. Sweet maltiness up front. Strong grapefruit hop kick. Lots of bitterness in the finish. Pretty thick in the mouthfeel department. Solid brew.

Orange-copper pour with a big, lasting frothy, off-white head. The aroma is English toffee, orange, grapefruit, almond, honey, and some floral hopiness. Lots of sweet, chewy, nutty malt flavor hits the tongue first with a crisp dry finish that is an equal balance of citrus and pine. Medium body with lots of soft carbonation. This a great, balanced strong ale.
