Oct 2, 2008 (bottle) Clear red-amber body and a thin, wispy beige head. The aroma is sweet with lots of malt, caramel, some hops, some grapefruit, and a hint of spice. Somehow feels both full-bodied and quite light in the mouth; oily. Flavor has dark roasted malt, caramel, smoke, and some coffee, too. The long finish is quite bitter and a good amount of alcohol.

Oct 1, 2008 Cool eye-catching bottle. Pours amber brown with a dense almond coloured head. Rich toffee malt and fruity bitter hop aroma. Big chewy palate of the same. In short, what I have come to expect from Rogue, which is to say very good quality and no skimping on the ingredients. If there is any criticism, it is that this doesn’t retain any especially "bockiness" reminiscent of the original Dead Guy, but who cares? It’s tasty!

Oct 1, 2008 Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured clear dark brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex caramel malt and spruce aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium complex balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Oct 1, 2008 2008 bottle. Pours a sparkling clear, amber with an average, off-white, creamy head; longevity is good and lace is minimal. Nose is somewhat boring; lots of toffee and toasted biscuits, faint raisins, and faint nuttiness. Flavor is similar with lots of caramel, some nuttiness, light toasted notes, and faint citrus with some sharp, herbal bitterness leading into the finish. Palate is medium, lively, oily, and lightly lightly chewy. Finish is harsh with the undesirable herbal notes lingering for a while with the nice sweet notes leaving. Somewhat offputting by the finish and not at all what I was expecting from a double maibock. The ale yeast just ruined what could be a decent heller doppel. I actually prefer the Dead Guy.

Sep 30, 2008 From Peadbody’s in Boone, Pretty darn delicious! Pours a hazy orange color with a white foamy head. Tastes a bit hoppy with a good taste of citrues and creamy finish. Smells of a good balance of hops and malts. Muy Buen!

Sep 30, 2008 Bottle from Boone, NC. Pours an unclear orange with a light orange head. Aroma is sweet with primary malt notes and light hops. The flavor is more hoppier than the aroma. Moslty malt with a clean bitter light citrus hop finish. Cool!

Sep 30, 2008 on tap from the horse brass pub in portland. pours a clear dark amber color with thin bubbly tan head. sweet caramel and floral citrus hops in the smell. citrus spice hops mixed well with roasted grains. seems like a crazy hopped barleywine. warm, but covers the alcohol well.

Sep 30, 2008 Pours an amber with an average sized off-white head. Nose is very light with brown sugar. Flavor has hints of hops up front that is soon swallowed up by the hugh malt backing of this ale. Very sweet and roast, with a good shot of warmth from the alcohol.
