Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Pours a hazy orange/yellow with an off white head. Aroma has honey, malt and hops. The flavor is very sweet and complex. Like a hoppy Belgian ale... without the candi sugar. Enjoyable.

Had on tap at two Rogue bar in Portland. Initial "kick" of caramel, toffee and cream, along with alcohol. Medium to full body with a lot of depth and complexity: caramel, cola candy, cafe ole, cream. A very long finish. More complex, bigger and creamier than Dead Guy.

The pour is a mahogany color with off white head. The nose is caramel, hops, and toffee, and a bit floral. The taste is similar with a good balance of barley like sweetness. The mouthfeel is a bit thicker than dead guy but still refreshing. There is a hint of the alcohol in it as well. Great beer.

Bomber. lightly hazy darker orange color with medium turning thin but lasting tan to off-white head. Aroma is caramel, bread, light hop, but also toasty. Flavor starts more molasses but goes overwhelming caramel and off-putting sweetness in the middle. Finish ends dry, a good rebound...better warmer; a lot warmer.

750ml ceramic bottle from 16th St.Liquor. The aroma is of boozy sweet hops. Pours a clear copper/golden with puffy foam that diminished to a thin top. Taste is a divine mix of crisp hops with chewy, caramel malts, slightly honeyed. Alcohol is evident but not overpowering. Finish does indeed linger a good, long while. This reminds me very favourably of Fuller’s Vintage Ale and I’d suspect it would age very well. Excellent beer, shame the price point is rather prohibitive at $16 per bottle.

2008 traded bottle. Pours a brown/bronze colour with a thick, foamy offwhite head. Nice lacing. BIG aroma of NW hops plus a little caramel hiding in there. Heavy hops in the flavour too and a steady dose of bitterness. Longer lasting flavour with some hop spice left on the lips.

2009 Label. Pours a beautiful golden colour with minimal head. The aroma is fruity and has hints of hops. The taste is quite similar and the hops are certainly evident. This is strong in taste and is an excellent bitter beer, the finish to this beer was also very good. I would say to those who are willing to pay for it they will remember this beer.
