Red amber color, small to average off-white head, lace. Nutty hoppy aroma with kind of menthol and wood notes. A bit watery palate. Bready hoppyness in the flavor, pale malts. Could be hoppier. Now a bit bland. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 11, 2008 12 oz bottle dry hopped. poured reddish brown with a massive head that eventually settled down. Aroma is citrus hops as expected for this dry hopped brew. Taste was not that hoppy, I think the dry hop process can lead you to think that this is some massive double IPA with huge hop flavor when in fact the dry hop gives you a lot of bark with little bite. That’s what I thought was missing from this beer was the bite. It wasn’t as full of beer in the mouthfeel dept. where Rogue specializes and the beer just kind of dies on you about midway through and leaves you wanting more_____ (insert: flavor, malt, hop, alcohol balance, etc.) illidurit (891), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Review from notes. Poured into my Rogue pint glass. Coppery-brown with a tan head that leaves nice lacing. Toasty malts on the nose, with a nice spicy and floral Centennial hop aroma. Taste is very similar, with toasty malt cut through by hoppiness, although here the hops take on more citrus character. There’s also an awful metallic note here that throws everything off. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry but the metal hurts the drinkability. VitaminR (438), Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Dark caramel, some floral fruit, and slight resin nose. Reddish amber with some haze. Bittersweet throughout. Dry hopping balances the typical Amber sweetness nicely. Seemed just a bit thin, but nice tight carbonation. Good hoppy Amber Ale. rustychiles (1057), Mesa, Arizona, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Hazy, deep amber body with an off-white head. Some lacing. The aroma is very cirtrusy, and that characteristic is reflected perfectly in the flavor. In fact, I believe there’s too much citrus hop in this one per the style, and for that I had to deduct a few points. Don’t get me wrong, this is a fine beer if you really like hops, but it’s just too imbalanced to qualify as a true amber ale. Honestly, I like this beer, but I’ll have to remember that it’s not really of the style it’s name suggests.
