Aroma is hoppy. Really hoppy for a red, kind of out of style. But considering I’m not a big red fan and I liked this, I won’t hold that against it. It IS a valid complaint that a lot of Rogue beers taste alike, though.
A dry, subdued malt take on the style with a perfect amount of crisp hoppiness. This would make a perfect session beer. I’d have considered this an Irish Red myself...and maybe tops of the style for that, too. Ratings bumped up a tad. anders37 (4792), Malmö, Sweden

Quite bitter and fruity in the mouth. Finishes bitter and a certain tannin quality about it. cgarvieuk (4215), Edinburgh, Scotland

Gravicask at GBBF. Dark muddy brown colour. Hoppy American aroma with caramel and pineapple. Very grassy and hoppy flavour with lemon and sugar like you have on pancakes. Lengthy bitter finish. VTHopHead (934), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Draft at the Rogue Public House in Astoria - Poured a nice reddish amber in color with a frothy white head. Aroma was quite fruity; citrus and, surprisingly, of dark fruit... raisins or prunes. Lots of spicy hops to match a sweet maltiness. Flavor matched the aroma very closely with a bit more of the malt showing through. Another excellent drinking beer. maeib (4768), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2007. A murky ruby red coloured beer. The aroma is fruity with raisins noted together with alcoholic notes. The taste has hops together with some woodiness. Tastes like a Rogue beer, just not one of their better ones. fidemaster (172), USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Not a bad beer, it comes off with a strong orange taste, with a decent amount of malt. It was ok but not special.
