Aroma is full of fresh fruity hops, citrus, caramel and brown sugar. Nice. The flavour lets it down a little. It’s good, just a bit watery. DigitalMan (117), Idaho, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Darkish, barely red color, head recedes quickly leaving nice lacing. Hop aroma is bright and clean. Flavor is fuller than many ambers, but still weak for my tastes. Also leans too heavily on the hops for me. So-so. RHeastings (411), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a nice amber/copper color, with a white head. The nose brings strong notes of west coast hops, perhaps cascade and centennial. The palate strikes a very nice balance of malt sweetness to hop bitterness. Especially notable is the myriad complexity achieved from the use of character malt. Overall, a nice interpretation of a solid style. Smaskifa (56), Oslo, Norway
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Dark red colour, almost brown. Pours a decent head. Aroma is heavily dominated by a very sweet caramel and malts, some hops. Nice balanced palate, but a bit thin in my opinion. The taste is very dominated by the very sweet caramel, almost as sweet as the German bock. Well balanced finish. Nice beer. yemenmocha (363), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Review is for DRY-HOPPED bottling, not the older bottles that were not dry hopped version.
Pours deep ruby red, slight haze, and off-white head that laces well.
Nose is somewhat light at first, but with a deeper investigation I found a nice citrusy component at play along with caramel.
Palate is caramel sweet too, but balanced nicely with hops. Great hop flavor but also nice malt, something that surprised me. Normally one or the other (exclusively) has to take center stage to be appreciated, but this beer displays them both nicely.
Creamy mouthfeel and VERY drinkable.

It has a frothy beige head that supplies crackly lacing. It has a caramel and pine/resin hop nose. The beer tastes very floral. There is sugary toffee and it has a dry finish and moderate amount of bitterness. Overall this is a pretty solid Amber/Red Ale.
22 fl. oz. bottle (13° Plato, 44 IBU, 73.1 AA, 26.75° L) enjoyed during the Grand Banquet at the 2009 American Homebrewers Association Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #836 for this beer.

Hazy dark red colour with huge head.
Quite sweet malt aroma with hops. Flavour is also quite sweet with hoppy aftertaste. Very Rogue-like Ale. Slightly too sweet for me. cprochak (412), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
