| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 23, 2009 Bottle. Amber with a big tan head. Hoppy citrus aroma- much like all west coast ambers. Also has some caramel malts. Flavor lacks the hop presence the aroma promises. Furity hops, citrus, and larger malt charecter than expected. The aroma led me to believe this was going to be a much hoppier, more bitter beer. Still, a solid amber. Vertical Bacon Strips (892), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2009 First thing: I’ve rated this with almost the same score as Speakeasy Prohibition Ale but the Speakeasy was superior and blew me away every sip...this beer isn’t as good but sure as hell has some great characteristics.
I’ve got a blend somewhere in between dark burnt orange, red and a light medium brown for colour, hazy too...great colour but lacks a strong crown - tan, small, little lacing. Great aroma - nice malt presence even with the big hop content. Hops: grapefruit, lychee, sweet berries, spruce, floral. Malts: sweet, caramel, some roast. It’s really the sweet berries that make this different. The taste is great cold or warmer. Odd, I notice the malts more when cold. Large hop flavour - berries, spruce, citrus, caramel malts yumyum yum. Light medium bodies. Great spritzy carbonation that is not annoying, soft mouthfeel, good malt middle, finishes with the awsome blend of hops. Took forever to drink this as I was breaking my neck listening to Lawnmower Deth.
