2006 Bottle. Spicy aroma and flavor and a sourness are appealing in this saison, but everything does not necessarily go together as well as in others in this style. Average to large white head that diminishes. Clear body that is yellow-orange. Aroma is heavy with malts, particularly toffee. Orange spiciness is apparent. The yeast is quite noticable — sweat and horse blanket. The flavor is lightly acidic, moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body with a slick texture and less than adequate carbonation.

Pours orange with a big head from a bottle at Woodmans. Plenty of spicey hoppy flavor. Citrus and yeast with good bitterness, an enjoyable brew.

Amber-gold, with a ridiculous, billowy, white head. Very spicy aroma, with coriander and cloves over orange being the best description. Fairly heavy, with a smooth, almost flat mouth feel. Not much of the citrus carries into the flavor. The aroma and appearance are the highlights of this beer.

Orange-copper in colour, large off-white head, good retention and lacing. The aroma is slightly sour, good amount of citrus, yeasty, some spice. Some mustiness comes through in the flavour along with some chalk, some sour and funk, lemon citrus, light spice. Medium bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes quite long, musty with some lingering citrus. Not bad, a different step from Rogue, gone are the usual hops.

No best before date.

2006 bottle: Pours a golden straw with a receding dish soap head. The aroma is very upfront and gassy - notes orange peel with a heavy plasticy layer beneath that I also encounter with Orval. The honey malt in the body has difficulty finding balance with the onslaught of earthy yeast esthers and underattenuated sugars. A bit out of whack for me.
