l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA May 14, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a thin head. Huge hazelnut syrup flavor all the way through, nearly covers up any other flavor. Also some sweet malt and vanilla, the finish has a strong burnt flavor. Tastes a lot like Cracker Jacks. Not very enjoyable. Alasdair (76), New Zealand May 14, 2009 Aroma of nutella on wholemeal toast, with a tocuh of mily, sweet coffee. Lightrt mouthfeel than I was expecting, but lovely flavour of nuts, caramel and chocolate. Luckily the bitterness saves it from being snickers bar - a balanced finish. skmikeg (70), Poway, California, USA May 12, 2009 Pours a nice amber brown color with a thick tan head which fades into a nice lacing. malty aroma of hazelnut and some vanillla. flavor is smmoth malthy hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, nuts, and coffee. has a nice medium finish and is not too sweet. definitly the best brown I have had. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA May 8, 2009 Poured amber with a thin tan head. Sweet malty aroma. Big burst of vanilla up front. Like a vanilla shake. Some malt and caramel and nutty, but mainly it’s about the vanillla sweetness. Not too bad. gracefullypunk (272), Washington, USA May 5, 2009 Gorgeous pour, deep red brown with a thick, slowly to dissipate head that leaves a faint lacing. Malty, roasted aroma with, obviously, a hazelnut streak. Chocolate, coffee and hazelnut tastes but they don’t overpower. Definitely one of my favorites. snuffla (95), Chch, New Zealand Apr 30, 2009 Pours dark brown with red flashes and a fizzy diminishing head As i poured it i thought ’mmm’ drinkable. Aroma is (thru a slight blocked nose, fingers crossed its not swine flu) choc and dark berry fruit with a smidge of nut. Taste chocolate and berries and a lovely smooth hazlenut finish. Palate is divine, rich and creamy fading to a clean and very slight bitterness. Very good brown ale cfrancis (293), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2009 Hazelnut very apparent in the nose and the taste. Not really my cup of tea. Nice beer but I probably won’t do it again.
