Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Apr 5, 2009 650ml Bottle: Pours rich, mahogany brown with an amazing, full beige head. Aroma of toasted hazelnuts, toffee, caramel, and mocha; just a bit muted, but it’s all there. Great immediate hit of light molasses and hazelnuts, burnt toffee, chocolate, sour fruits, and just enough bitter hops to balance. The only negative I can pull is that it’s just a bit too watery, but otherwise I absolutely love this one! Another great job by Rogue! teamrassas (26), USA Apr 5, 2009 Thin nutty aroma, the hazelnut is more in the finish and not in the mid palate. Super smooth brown ale, very light body. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2009 650 mL bottle. Translucent, chestnut brown with a small, beige head. Sweet aroma of nuts, toast and toffee. Taste is dominated a little too much by an almost cloying hazelnut flavour. Not much by way of hops. A little thinner than expected. Brings something different to a style with little variety, but just doesn’t really work for me. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Mar 28, 2009 Dark re-brown pour with a tan head. Hazelnut aroma. A surprisingly good nutty flavor. I really like this one, especially for the price. Has a nice dark roasted flavor without the coffee notes. Light to medium body. Very good. Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2009 Pours a red brown with a very thin film of a head and a slight yeast cloud to the beer. Aroma is composed of a light chocolate malt scent with the rest of it being very nutty of Hazel nut. Flavor is dominated by the nutty hazel nut flavor but there also resides a light, semi-watery flavor of chocolate malt and some Munich maltiness in the back. The beer has a moderate carbonation and has very smooth flavors.Overall the beer is dominated by the nutty flavor but it remains very palatable and a very good semi-sweet, cookiesh beer. LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Mar 23, 2009 Appearance: Pours a dark amber with a tight knit, creamy 1/2 inch of head.
Aroma: Hazelnut syrup for coffee, toasted oats, and wheat bread.
Taste: Bread crust, bitter hops, roasted nuts, caramel malts. The beer finishes with a subtle sour/sweet fruitiness I associate with doppelbocks.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied.
Overall: A very full flavored, well crafted beer. Although the aroma is sweet, the beer is well balanced, borderlining dry. beezz86 (68), Jasper, Indiana, USA Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Poured a brown color with a thick tan head and little lacing. The beer had a distinct nutty aroma with subtle hints of chocolate. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a nice smooth finish. The beer had a sweet nutty flavor. Overall, I really like this beer. It has a good blend of nuts and chocolate and is very easy to drink. I would definately drink this beer again. sjolles85 (77), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2009 Bottle. poured a dark brown with a tan head. Hazelnut, chocolate, and cinnimon aroma. Love the Hazelnut flavor. Nice smooth drinking beer. Gonna try again
