Dacrza (245), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jan 18, 2009 Nice, solid brown body with a one-finger off-white head... hardly opaque, with the faintest light at the glass’s bottom... light, almost nonexitstent aroma--some malts, but otherwise nondescript--on purpose? mellow, softly nestling effervescent in the teeth... presence is substantial... chewy, definitely nutty... surprsingly 33 IBUs as the hops are not up front... pleasantly flavorful with a malty breath late... "Pacman Yeast"? I love a beer that proudly displays its ingredients... having had a run on browns over the holidays, I had to sample this, and the results were as expected--solid with a twist of Rougish flair, hazelnut coffee evoked... 41cubs (131), , New Jersey, USA Jan 15, 2009 This is like the simple comfort food version of a beer. Smells of raw nuttinesss, mayo, and light toffee maltiness but very faint and delicate. Flavor is very smooth medium malt with a fresh light finish of a grassier grain. The look is of a hazy garnet core wrapped in murky mocha brown. Real solid medium, velvety and evenly balanced mouthfeel. Overall this is like the toddler child of a really good doppellbock. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jan 14, 2009 Poured brown with a big beige head. Hazelnut and sweet malt aroma. Flavor is dominated by the nut extract. If you like hazelnuts I guess this is your beer. It was a little much for me. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA Jan 10, 2009 Updated: Jan 25, 2009Pours nice dark brown with 3 finger head. Taste is incredible, love the mild hazelnut flavor but really wish there was more. This brew keeps me wanting more, I will definatley be revisiting this one again in the near future. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 9, 2009 In short: An intensely hazelnut flavoured brown ale. Straight to the point.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed fresh soon after purchase.
The look: Cloudy brown body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose of hazelnuts and milk chocolate. Taste is more of the same. The beer feels very creamy despite the very active carbonation. Hazelnuts, milk chocolate, more hazelnuts, a touch of vanilla, more hazelnuts, some butter (peanut butter). The beer sure ain’t complex but it is like nothing else. A really fun beer but I wouldn’t drink that all night long. Let’s just say that the first half of the bottle is a lot more fun than the second half. A bit too sweet and that creamy/buttery sensation is a bit too much for a session beer. As sweet and nutty as my aunt Alice. Every time I see the poor lady she asks me if I’d like some white chocolate and she hands me her denture. rjattoe (3), , Ontario, Canada does not count Jan 7, 2009 Great beer, but wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. Nice color, and a nutty taste that dissipated. Smooth, and definitely worth a taste. Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 7, 2009 Tastes like licking the insides of a jar of Nutella. Suspicious of added hazelnut elixir. togaswimmer (4), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 4, 2009 This has a nice brown color with a hint of red, it is medium bodied and great nutty brown ale taste. This one has a good after taste with a little bite of hops throughout.
