Thin on the tongue, but very nutty, slightly creamy. Pours a dark brown, small head. Slightly roasty, more on the malt side, no discernible hop. Pretty complex on the nose. Fizzy carbonation, but not overly fizzy, and smooth on the front of the tongue. A little peaty when you wash it around in your mouth. (Bottle Pour 5/8/2008)

22 oz bomber pours a hazy chestnut body with a medium ecru head. Aroma of hazelnuts, milk chocolate, and mild dark roasty malts. Lively carbonation and a medium body. Taste is nutty with chocolate notes and an essence of honeyed brown bread. One of my alltime favorite Rogues and a very solid brown ale.

Aroma: One word: yum. Maple syrup, brown sugar, toasted marshmallows - and you can really smell the hazelnuts. Just a hint of mocha. Really something, this one. Appearance: Gorgeous, shiny kalamata-olive coffee black. Pale yellow-tan head. Flavor: A sophisticated flavor. Roasted malts that turn chocolatey at the end and a subtle hazelnut character. Estery hops lend a clean finish. The bottle says to serve with beef or pork, but personally I think it would match much better with dessert, especially something with a coffee flavor. Tiramisu comes to mind. Palate: Good; full-bodied and thick. Overall: I could sip this all night. I chose it as my post-finals celebration beer, and what a good choice! I just wish I had more.

22 oz bottle. Light, sweet nutty aroma. Mahogany color with off-white head. Rich nutty taste with some sweetness, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Moderate carbination, noit much hops. Slight hints of dark chocolate. Well balanced, this could really end up too sweet, or otherwise, the tastes could go badly out of whack but they make it work well. Slightly bitter aftertaste as it gets warmer. Impressive brew!

Bottle. Pours orange/brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is strong hazelnut, lightly roasted, and a light note of vanilla. Body is full and smooth. Flavor comes first with hazelnut/chestnut/almond and is accompanied by a nice sweetness with notes of caramel, vanilla and cherry. Roasted malt and coffee show up in the finish. Very nice.

kinda a hazelnut color, brownish. Not a very strong aroma. Tastes like chocolate and nuts. Very nice beer.
