I could tell by the appearance it was going to be a winner. Hazelnut very evident and aftertaste is spectacular. thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Pours a dark, dark brown. Very dark for a "brown" ale, with a sandy tan head. Aroma was sweet and slightly nutty. Flavor is rich and nutty, slightly bitter, and good malt flavor with a thick, rich, almost creamy consistency. Goes down smooth. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Draught. Poured a ruby amber colour with no head. Nose of roastiness and nuts. Iinitial taste has a very fizzy mouthfeel. Roasted malts, light coffee, and clearly artificial hazlenut flavor that tastes more like cherry. Finishing with bitter hops on the palate. Medium Body. The mouthfeel really draws away from the beer. RSRIZZO (1362), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Had this beer on 9/10/2003. Aroma is a light sweet scent, but it dose not give any hazelnut. Color is a deep clear amber with light carbonation and thin head. Taste is sweet and fizzy. Starting with medium body it goes down with a sweetness and a slightly sharp feel. Finish is a sweet fake hazelnut flavor with no hop flavor and just a hint of malt. This thing is a big disappointment for a brew from Rogue. The hazelnut flavor comes across fake and its very unbalanced. Overall you can drink it but not with a smile. drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Pours a nice brown. A light head with not much lacing. Real nutty aroma. Slightly sweet caramel/toffee. Drinkable and smooth. I would’ve liked a more hop flavor. Rogue has done a good job as usual though. alandudeman (25), Massachusetts, USA

Smell: Very nutty, nice hazelnut aroma with a little bit of caramel and chocolate.
Taste: Not sweet, not bitter. What I got was a very mellow, creamy, nutty flavor, not strong at all. It reminds me of a hazelnut coffee with way too much cream so that a lot of the intense flavor is gone. Minuscule hop presence. Aftertaste is nutty then roasted coffee.
Flavor is good but if it packed the appeal of the smell it would be great.
Other: Carbonation was a lot higher in this one. It messed with my taste buds. Viscosity was rather thin but left a creamy coating in your mouth. reeljob (14), USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Really good. Smooth, hazelnutty, malty. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Some coffee/chocolate aroma with the hazelnut.. Smooth aftertaste. One of my new favorite beers, wish it weren’t so expensive.
