jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA Jul 27, 2009 Very smooth, very good natural Hazelnut flavor which remains noticeable, but is not overpowering. Just a little bit sweeter than I like. Tried it bottled about a year ago and wasn’t much impressed - I really liked it on tap though. I’d give it 4.2 bottled and 4.7 on tap. dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA Jul 25, 2009 I normally dont go staight for the nut brown’s when I walk into the store but I’m glad that I reached for this one. It has a great warm rich aroma and a smooth taste. Nutty with a hint of chocolate. One of the better nut browns I’ve had. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Jul 24, 2009 Bomber from Yellow Store at home on July 24, 2009. I wasn’t sure what this was, but at first sight and smell... it’s definitely a brown, and quite nutty at that. The use of hazelnut is quite excellent. Hazelnuts can sometimes make things a little too sweet, but this isn’t over hazelnutted. A roasted aroma and roasted flavor (no doubt thanks to the Crystal malt/hazelnut combo) gives this an undertone of coffee. Tasty! Listigovers (96), Ontario, Canada Jul 23, 2009 An extremely nutty aroma, with a hint of chocolate. Pours a thin and quickly dissipating tan head. Has an appetizing reddish brown colour. Fairly thin mouth feel, bursts forth with nutty flavours immediately. I’m impressed they managed to pack this much nut flavour into a beer, but was it really necessary? This beer felt unbalanced to me. Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jul 21, 2009 A cloudy brown beer with moderate head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste was very smooth & nutty with a creamy mouthfeel. In fact I think this is the most nut flavored beer I have had. It does almost have a Whopper candy sort of taste as quoted from the Beer Guide by RateBeer-but not in an overpowering way, just enough. Chocolate aroma. Amber red coloured and fruity with a crisp and slightly dry chocolaty finish. MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Jul 15, 2009 Garnished with the usual whimsical Rogue label, I was greeted with a most definitely brown pour mated with a slightly less brown four-fingered head, which sadly knew nothing about lacing. Aroma was quite discrete, giving away not much of anything, at least to my untalented nose. Taste was quite different, being that of a "good brown ale". The mouthfeel was smooth, and there at the end, the hazlenuttiness(?) appeared. Surely a grand aftertaste. Certainly worth another visit. deyholla (507), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2009 Tap at Ashley’s. Poured a clear brown with a dark off-white head. Nutty and malty, definitely an undertone of hazelnut. THe flavor began sweet with hazelnut notes and moved to more malty finish.
