Low chocolate and nut aromas, decidedly hazelnutty in the mouth, like liquid nutella, with a faintly tart edge and a dry bitterness developing in the aftertaste

Nice bitterness. I quite like the nutty flavour. A little thin but very drinkable. WeeHeavySD (2980), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

I’ve had this beer many times and I think it is one of my favorite browns. Pours light brown with a large but thin head. This is a delicious light tasting beer that has a sweet hazelnut feeling. It is drinkable and great. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2005 In the bomber bottle. Morimoto version. Reddish brown in color. Hazelnut aroma strong. I first had this on tap long ago and was not a fan of the fake hazelnut flavor extract which was mostly chemical tasting. This newer incantation is way more natural tasting. Good balance to the flavor with enough of a malt profile to encapsulate the hazelnut. JK (2955), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2007 This does have a lot of hazelnut in the flavor and aroma. A sweet beer, nutty flavor. some butter. Not really thick enough to be called a nectar. ante (2942), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Hazy brown colour, small head. Rich and strong hazelnut aroma, notes of burnt sugar, toffee, leaves and licorice. Full, nutty flavour. Toffee, anise, burnt sugar and hops. Clean and hard body with soft chewy malt. Delicious! The best brown ale I ever had to date. daknole (2941), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2008 This was the first Rogue beer I ever had and it hooked me on the Rogue brewery immediately. Sweet hazelnut flavor with some great maltiness and a hint of hops balances this brew perfectly. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2005 Pours a clear reddish brown color with a thin offwhite head. Mild aroma of malt and hazelnut. Mild flavor of malt and nuts, the finish leaves a chalky and dry feeling. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. This is a major let down, I used to love this beer but now either my tastes have changed or the quality of the beer has gone downhill.
