| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2003 Rich, dark mahogany is very nice, but the head dies too quickly. Great mouthfeel, rich and purposeful, albeit easy to drink. Very aromatic beer, with molasses, coffee, wood, pine, nuts, and of course, a lot of hazelnut notes. The beer seems pretty well-balanced with a deep sweetness against a "roasty" bitterness. Its finish is great; really nice lasting flavors. Sweet and toasty, nutty caramel and shortbread cookie aromas. Big nutty character up front, a little milk chocolate, lots and lots of caramel malt flavour. Thoroughly enjoyable with a high density of flavour makes this one of the best brown ales I’ve ever tried (can Rogue do no wrong?). riversideAK (2769), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Aroma is roasty, nutty, and maple syrupy sweet. Pours a dark dark brown. Flavor is smooth mocha, nuttiness, and that maple syrup. WIth all that is going on in this beer, it still has that Rogue flavor. Those of you who have had quite a few Rogue Ales might be able to testify that no matter what style you are drinking, there is a similar flavor among all of their beers. This is a pretty filling brew as well, but it is incredibly smooth on the palate. Probably one of the smoothest. Overall, a very fine brown ale. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2006 On tap @ Mellow Mushroom. Clear brown color with red hues shining thru with white head. Full rich aroma of caramel candy. Amazing aroma. Like being in a caramel candy shop. Full caramel flavor like no other beer I’ve tasted. Nice nuttiness too. The beer ends smooth with lingering nut flavor. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

I was expecting an overwhelming or artificial hazelnut aroma and taste and was pleasantly surprised by the subtlety of the flavors. The hazelnut lends itself readily to the brown ale. Sublime--be very afraid, Nutella! Love this beer and ranks among my favorite Rogues for the time being. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2003 Yeah, it is that good. A typical mellow browna ale character, with a typical (for Rogue) hop backbone. This is not an attempt to make an English Brown, this is an American Brown Ale. Very impressive.
