Ebony brown with a thin tan head. Aroma has a little malt, a little hazelnut, and a hint of mocha. Flavor is malty with a background of hazelnut, and a hoppy bitter finish.

Excellent. I was expecting an overwhelming or artificial hazelnut aroma and taste and was pleasantly surprised by the subtlety of the flavors. The hazelnut lends itself readily to the brown ale. Sublime--be very afraid, Nutella! Love this beer and ranks among my favorite Rogues for the time being.

Bottle: Aroma of malt and nuts, brown sugar, choclate, and a little roast. Poured dark brown in color with a litte ruby too. Nice to look at. Almost opaque but you can see through when held up to a light. Small, rocky, light brown head that diminished quickly. No lacing. Complex flavor with malty hints of hazelnut, nut, roast, choclate, cream, vanilla and oreo cookies. Heavily sweet but neither bitter not sour. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Finish is sweet and short. Overall, nice flavor but too sweet and no hops.

65 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom Dark brown colour with a weak head. Aroma of nuts, caramel and toffee. Very much caramel flavour with notes of hazelnuts and with a little noteable touch of hops and sweetness at the ends.

(22 oz bottle: $4.29 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Brown ales aren’t the most exciting of beers, but if you’re gonna brew one, and you’re the brewer for Rogue, you throw down the gauntlet and brew a kick ass brown. This is an absolutely delicious nut brown ale with a very potent and sweet caramel flavor that tastes just like candy caramels. And damn, it smells like caramel candies too! Plenty of hazelnut , chocolate and honey in the flavor, and bitterness is very mild from start to finish. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated, but it becomes a bit cloying now that I’m polishing off the second half of this bomber. Dark ruddy brown in color, clear in appearance, but too dark to see through. Unfortunately, the dark tan head is bubbly and fizzy, so though it starts off at nearly an inch, it dissipates fairly rapidly down to a ring. Yeah sure, it might be too sweet for some people, and it does seem pretty sugary sweet to me, but it’s just so damn tasty! Easily my favorite brown ale.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 24 Nov 2007) Dark reddish brown colour with brief head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of toffee, chocolate, wild berries and hazelnuts. Malty, nutty taste with dark fruit, prunes, hazelnuts and hints of chocolate. Low bitterness, hints of sweetness. Nice beer, but lacking some punch.

Frothy white head that leaves a nice lacing. Hazelnut in the aroma, of course. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Sweet flavor, with a good deal of hazelnut, as well as chocolate malt, perhaps some toffee. Slight bitterness near the end which balances the beer out well. A nice little brown ale.

The aroma has hazelnuts with malt and some chocolate. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The flavor is not bad. It has hazelnuts and malt with a light spicing. The palate is too thin. This was a great idea that could stand to be just a bit better but not bad.
