Mar 19, 2005 bottle. opaque mahogany colour with a small white head. lots of sweet milk chocolate aroma, some roastiness and a hint of hazelnut. flavour is much better than the aroma displays. smooth, malty, nutty, roasty. medium body. the nutty finish is spectacular. great beer.

May 25, 2007 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is very sweet and nutty with tons of hazelnut flavor. Rich and roasty. Flavor itself is very sweet and nutty at the beginning with a very sweet and hazelnut flavor in the middle and a sweet and roasted malt finish. Very smooth and tasty.

Jul 26, 2004 On tap in Portland. Redish amber color with a creamy off-white head. Sweet nutty nose. Artificial hazelnut syrup sweetness. Not a really pleasant drink.

Jan 31, 2004 Really good brew. Tastes like coffee. If you like Hazelnut coffee, you would like this. Really enjoyable. Malty, and roasty. Some caramel notes to it. Very drinakable. A gooddessert beer. A good session beer.. Had it on tap at Andy's Corner bar in bogota, nj.

Dec 24, 2002 Revamp: Artifcial and thin. Previous rating: This is a great American brown. Robust enough to enjoy after dinner or with a cigar. Yet quaffable enough to make it a good session beer. Well done Maier!

Jun 26, 2002 Soft chocolate and caramel malt sweetness up front, followed by a dry, non-bitter finish, with nutty overtones. Aroma is light with chocolate and hazelnuts. Easy drinking, and not as sweet as you might expect from something called ’nectar’ - but the nut flavors make it something not to do too much of.

Aug 1, 2006 Pours dark rich brown with a dark tan head. Aroma is rich and sweet malt with a bit of nuttiness ~ velvety aroma. Medium / thich mouthfeel. Very smooth with lightly fizzy carbonation. Starts with sweet nutty malt goodness with some roasted hints and bits of chocolate. Finish adds a spicy hoppy bite. Very smooth beer, probably the best brown beer I’ve had.
