Aroma is coffee and hazelnut, obviously. Some malt in the aroma also. Taste is nutty, sweet malt, with a good amount of hazelnut throughout the taste. my favorite hazelnut beer, thus far. Nose held soft notes of rich hazelnut, brown sugar, with even softer caramel and raisin notes. Flavor was nutty all up in the house with light sweet chocolate and more brown sugar dominating. A light hop bitterness offers up a version of balance, but this take is all about the hazelnut. Light to medium bodied, light carbonation, soft nutty, semi-sweet finish. Decent stuff, but couldn’t drink more then one in a sitting... fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

But I may have found one I can stand. Aromas were not much to speak of, caramel and some toffee, but the flavors really kicked in. I first tasted the head and the hazelnut actually surprised me. Then in the beer, hazelnut and vanilla and cream. Very creamy and very smooth. But then that familiar Brown Ale taste to finish it off.... I liked it, but it’s still a Brown Ale. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Roasted nuts, butterscotch and pancakes on the nose. Full, heavy and creamy nutty flavors on the palate. Sweet chocolate cake like taste with a long toffee finish. Brown bodied with thinnish head. Hazlenut aroma reminiscent of candied popcorn, a quality that characterizes the flavor as well. Distinct nuttiness, smooth and easy malting, rather thin mouthfeel. Enjoyable in low doses though the hazlenut tastes could overstay their welcome past a glass or 2.
