| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Tap. Dark amber-mahogany in color with some cherry accents when put to candlelight. A dime-sized bubbling grey sheaf is all the head that we’ve got. Whole wheat bread and maple brown sugar sweetly waft up the nose, along with almond butter, sweet caramel ribbons and Honey Bunches of Oats with excessive maple syrup. Sweet, nutty concoction that thrives on maple syrup out of oak vats begins the flavor regime. Gentle, sweet slide that (rather than falling apart in the aftermath) thickens to impart a woodsy, tree bark and sweet honey roasted pecan characteristic. Controlled carbonation breaks way for cocoa nut butter - Nutella style - likely a byproduct of the principle hazelnut contention. Cookie crisp cereal and chocolate Honey Maid graham crackers reiterate a sweet, smooth spurge, and maple nut fudge prevails in its afterlife. Possibly the best nut brown I’ve ever had. Aroma is big time hazelnut, caramel, chocolate, light hopping and other nutty notes. Medium bodied, dominated by the hazelnut flavor... almost vanilla like. It’s always interesting to look back on flavored beers like this. At one point this was mindblowing, now it’s one dimensional and sloppy. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Flavor is nutmeg, syrup, toffee, and caramel. A little bit of a thin body and a touch too much carbonation but this is still a very good beer! Deep brown, with a thinnish ring of froth, and not much lacing. Dry roasted nut aroma. Delicious dry taste - that's the first thing that struck me - a rich, nutty and roasted flavour. Some Nutella sweetness in and around the beginning, levelling out to a medium length finish. Well balanced crisp and light - I think this is my favourite Rogue so far. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

The aroma is caramel and a bit of butterscotch. The flavor is just a bit on the buttery side, but boasts brown sugar, hazelnut coffee, and just a touch of salinity. Smooth.
