Bottle. Brown color with a hint of orange. Hazelnut aroma, indeed, with caramel. Good lacing. Flavor has hazelnuts, oakleaves, glue and salt. In fact the smell of a fisherman's boat in Scheveningen harbor. Fairly thin, even a bit watery texture. Fishy, caramelly aftertaste. Good, but not entirely convincing.

A Sim rate (on tap at the Flyng Saucer Memphis): Nutty, slightly sweet aroma that’s a bit too alcoholic. Nice dark amber colour but no head or lacing. SO divinely hazelnut in the flavour. Sweet chocolate and caramel with an amazing finish.

Pours dark bown with beige head. Stunning aroma with caramel, some coffee and a little flowery tones. Taste is very full, complex with caramel and coffee.

Very deep brown body with a perfect 2 inch tan head, rocky, with small and regular bubbles, fine lacing and lasting. Sweet nose, chocolate mainly with hints of maple and coffee. The taste is pretty malty, sweet, surprisingly very fresh with loads of nice flavors among which none really stood out, but honey, chocolate, milk, nuts, toffee, caramel, coffee, maple, rich cookies. Soft, creamy and chewy palate. Tremendous malt/hops balance, more on the malt size, but hops is noticeable, especially toward the finish where I noticed a woody/herbal hops flavor and a roastiness that added to the complexity. Great bursting vanilla aftertaste. Lovely beer which I'm frightened I won't be able to get a crack at near often enough living up here:( Two thumbs up to JoeT for this great desert.

Bottle at ultimate glasgow tasting, bbf jan 04. Aroma is a nutty brown ale. Taste is similar but chocolat hints, well balanced and tasty enough, but relitivly unexciting.

(Bottle) Pours a brownish color with a medium sized head. Delicious flavor of hazelnet, chocolate, and coffee. A nice treat.
