| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2003 Bottle. Brown color with a hint of orange. Hazelnut aroma, indeed, with caramel. Good lacing. Flavor has hazelnuts, oakleaves, glue and salt. In fact the smell of a fisherman's boat in Scheveningen harbor. Fairly thin, even a bit watery texture. Fishy, caramelly aftertaste. Good, but not entirely convincing. MesandSim (5853), London, Greater London, England

Nice dark amber colour but no head or lacing. SO divinely hazelnut in the flavour. Sweet chocolate and caramel with an amazing finish. thewolf (5764), Kolding, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 8, 2003 Updated: Dec 5, 2003Very deep brown body with a perfect 2 inch tan head, rocky, with small and regular bubbles, fine lacing and lasting. Sweet nose, chocolate mainly with hints of maple and coffee. The taste is pretty malty, sweet, surprisingly very fresh with loads of nice flavors among which none really stood out, but honey, chocolate, milk, nuts, toffee, caramel, coffee, maple, rich cookies. Soft, creamy and chewy palate. Tremendous malt/hops balance, more on the malt size, but hops is noticeable, especially toward the finish where I noticed a woody/herbal hops flavor and a roastiness that added to the complexity. Great bursting vanilla aftertaste. Lovely beer which I'm frightened I won't be able to get a crack at near often enough living up here:(
Two thumbs up to JoeT for this great desert. Magicdave6 (5520), London, Greater London, England
