| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2007 From a 22 oz bottle poured a deep and very clear red with a tan head that left almost no lacing. Rich nose of hazelnuts, and malts. Some whiffs of fruit. Mouthfeel is a a bit cloying. Flavors are fairly complex, and after you get past the hazelnuts, which tends to dominate, you can detect chocolate, coffee, fruits, molasses, and the tiniest bit of hops. Finish is a bit sweet. Not your ordinary brown, and hard to rate in the category, but without concern for its type, it is an interesting brew, particularly if you like hazelnuts. Odeed (1680), Bakersfield, California, USA

Rich, toasted-malty aroma. Pleasant body/mouthfeel/finish thats pretty good for the style. Flavor is deep, rich, & malty. Brown ales are typically pretty bland, but this one stacks up nicely. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Bottle at Chaucer’s Pub- Dark deep brown letting in some light. Head is a frothy beige foam. Nose of toasty malts, and as you would expect, hazelnuts, like nutella, some chocolate, with a fair amount of fresh hops blasting up. Nice toffee and hazelnut flavours with sweet cocoa and a good dose of bittering hops to balance the act out. Finishes much like the flavour, just a bit thinner than I expected. Good stuff.
