Pours a clear ruby brown with beige head. Aroma of maple, wood, with faint nutty notes. Flavor is semi-sweet with maple, wood, and nice hazelnut. Has medium body with medium carbonation. Very good! shadey (1500), Rochester, New York, USA

Wonderful hoppy aroma with malty, oaky, fruity and toffee hints. Sharp, complex hoppy taste. It carries fruity, nutty, roasty and subtle chocolate notes. Alcohol is well dissimulated. Ends with a long bittersweet finish. Awesome Brown Ale! 17thfloor (1498), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Wonderful hazelnut aroma with some malt, and maple syrup. The flavor mactches... very sweet and smooth, malty, nutty, and some chocolate? Unfortunately the palate just lets this beer down... the carbonaton is spot on but the body is sooo weak. dmac (1497), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 26, 2009 650 ml bottle from my sister for my 36th bday, thanks Car. Poured a deep dark chestnut brown with a smaller sized beie creamy head. Aroma had distinct hazelnut but yet it wasn’t overpowering and some nice chocolate and brown bread malts were blended in. The palate had a nice mediu body that coated the mouth with a creamy feel and finished with a touch of dry bitterness that could only be from the hops despite none being easily detected in the aroma or the flavor. The flavor had soft subtle hazelnut at first but with each additional sip the hazelnut became more pronounced as well as some sour milk chocolate and brown bread toast. This one was fairly well done especially considering it was a Rogue. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is a light roasty chocolate and hazelnuts, with a hint of coffee, quite appetizing.
Taste is rockin' smooth of chocolate tones and hazelnuts, slightly roasty and a touch of quick sweetness. Nice airy nut-like dryness in the finish. Nice creamy medium body, way smooth, quite nice and easy, makes for excellent drinkin'. The only thing is that its over to fast, but man its good! Another top notcher by Rogue.
Morimoto version-
I couldn't tell much difference between this and the other hazelnut brew Rogue makes except it seems to have more extractness to it. Nice solid dark brown color with some dark orangey glowing edges, thin but firm creamy dark ivory head, faded off slowly, lace in small spots. Smell is light roasty chocolate and a big time hazelnut extractness to it, some wiffs have more hazelnut then others where others were nearly empty. Taste is about as smooth as the other hazelnut beer with some lightly favorable chocolate tones and hazelnuts, slightly roasty and a touch of quick sweetness. Nice airy nut-like dryness in the finish, yet stays sweet. Perhaps a bit too much in that regards. Again with some sips the extract is more evident then others. Seemingly off a bit comparingly to the original. Still, a nice creamy medium body encompasses it while it maintains an overall smoothness and drinkability. Good, but the extract stood out a bit too much then what the original portrays. However, it is quite nice and wouldn't turn it down for nothing and; albiet it's a bit one dimensional. redlight (1490), Winter Park, Florida, USA
