Taste is similar but chocolat hints, well balanced and tasty enough, but relitivly unexciting. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The color is a beautiful, dark crimson (Roll Tide). Ok, the ale smells like an American macrobrew, but the flavor is malty, nutty, malty, nutty and not sweet. I thought aroma and flavor were interwoven in humans. How did Rogue pull this off? Why? Did I mention that this ale is really malty and nutty. Don’t let the NECTAR portion of the name fool you, it really isn’t sweet at all... it’s hopped perfectly. HAZELNUT HEAVEN. The best brown ale I’ve had since LongShot Hazelnut Brown was brewed by the Boston Brewing Company back in 1995-1996. Anybody with me? CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA

It pisses me off that Rogue bottles the same beers under different names. Morimoto had nothing to do with this beer whatsoever, unless he's been working at Rogue since they came out with the Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Anyways, this is not as good as I remember. Still has a good sweet hazelnut flavor, but their isn't much malty complexity.
Still a good, easy-drinking beer, so I'll let the mislabeling slide for this time.
Original Rating:
Robust sweet malty nose and medium to dark brown color. Tastes like freshly cracked crystal malt stewing at mashing tempurature. Mellow, inviting, full nuttiness caresses the palate and finishes a toasty almond. The hazelnut extract adds a tremendous amount of character. This is the best brown ale I have had. Tastes like a Vanilla Coke/Newcastle Brown shandy with some hazelnut syrup and a touch more malt. Very odd, and unevenly balanced. The flavours don't blend well at all, really bad, especially when i had such high hopes. Another good reason for me not to like brown ales. Odd. Re-rate: Having this about a year after my firts sample, my views have still not changed. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

Ends on a light bitter note. Is medium bodied.
