| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Draught at The Flying Saucer in Nashville. Poured a dark mahogany color with three fingers of off white head. Aroma is of sweet malt with a faint nut aroma. Flavor is very sweet with a strong hazelnut tone and some bitter chocolate. Too sweet to drink more than one, but overall a solid beer. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Updated: Sep 16, 2008On tap at Plan B, W Hartford CT. Absolutely zero head on this one by the time it got to me, but I’m not much of a stickler for the appearance category unless it looks like piss. Aroma started off sort of juicy, grape-ish. A little later it reminded distinctly of strawberry-rhubarb pie, fruits and delectable, buttery crust included. This doughy, buttery pie-crustiness continued throughout the flavor with the fruits/general malty sweetness sort of switching off from time to time. I honestly don’t think I would be able to identify hazelnut if given a blind sampling of it, so maybe that turned into this pie crust I keep talking about. In any event, I thought this was very unique, and very nice if you’re in the mood for some smooth sweetness.8-4-8-4-16/4.0
Rerate 9/16/08. Interesting. Was I served the wrong beer the first time? Was it just way too cold as all tap beers from that location are? Was I just an idiot? Hard to say, but my goodness, there are hazelnuts here, fresh, nature-filled, fleshy hazelnuts comprise the majority of the aroma. I could make arguments for some earth and a touch of spice, but really it’s all from the nuts. Flavor not quite as nutty, but a general nuttiness still plays a prominent role with some chocolatey notes and semi-roasted sweet malt coming through more. Finish actually goes back to that huge hazelnut though, right back where you started. Very tasty and uniquely nutty in my experience. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Very good looking. But too sweet. Could be more hoppy and "strong" in its character. For me, it’s an okay beer for the style. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 15, 2002 Dark brown, with a nice light brown head that diminishes, but sticks lightly around the edge of the glass. Aroma could be carmelized bananas roasting over an open fire. Sweet dark chocolate rolls over the tongue and the malty finish is extra smooth. I wish my 750 could be even bigger.
