This is hard to score, because I really don’t like hazelnut coffee, but I know this is a well made beer, and if I liked hazelnut, I would have rated this very high DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

Flavor is more hazelnut, some red grape skins, nutella, some woodsy scotch tones. Winey mouthfeel, heavy but smooth. Long chocolate malt finish. Quite complex and very good brown ale. Loved it again, especially the smoky taste, and had to up it a little bit. I also believe that this beer can bring you good luck. ORIG RATING 4/22/02: 9-5-8-5-16: Incredible!! How can a taste have such prominent hazelnut and honey without ruining it being beer? By far the best nut brown I've ever had, I'm having another next time I'm out. Toffe/caramel is also in the taste. A complex blend of sweetness. Nectar is a good word to describe it, too. Okay, away from the incredible taste, it's also got a handsome brown color, and the nose is as good as how it is on your tongue. Classic. nickd717 (1374), Palo Alto, California, USA

Dark nut brown color with an off-white head. Incredible hazelnut aroma. Flavor is lots of hazelnuts with caramel, roasted malt, and slight fruitiness. Nuttiest beer I’ve ever had and I love it. Palate is a little thin, but this is an absolute top-of-the-line brown ale overall. RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Had this beer on 9/10/2003. Aroma is a light sweet scent, but it dose not give any hazelnut. Color is a deep clear amber with light carbonation and thin head. Taste is sweet and fizzy. Starting with medium body it goes down with a sweetness and a slightly sharp feel. Finish is a sweet fake hazelnut flavor with no hop flavor and just a hint of malt. This thing is a big disappointment for a brew from Rogue. The hazelnut flavor comes across fake and its very unbalanced. Overall you can drink it but not with a smile. ilovedarkbeer (1365), Dallas, Texas, USA

Tastes very thick and sticky with a pretty potent taste of hazelnuts and chocolate. Nose is nutty and of chocolate, cream, and brown sugar. Taste is coffee like and nutty with a bit of an awkward aftertaste. Nice silk and thick mouthfeel. Not bad but it is much better on tap than in the bottle.
