Aroma is malty, toasted nuts, brown sugar, light toffee and some sweetish chocolate. Flavour is similar, chocolate malt, hazelnuts, toffee, bread and toast. Thin bodies, leafy hops through the finish wiht a moderate bitterness. Okay, but not great. yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway

Mellow roasted aroma with caramel and sugar. Roasted and caramelly flavor as well, with spces and notes of dried fruits. I could use some more body. The finish is roasted and bitter in a pleasant way. (060826) ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2004 This pours a red hued mahogany color with a one-finger off-white head. The aroma is rich and malty, fairly sweet. It’s got a creamy mouthfeel and tasted of caramel and chocolate. The hazelnut really only comes through in the finish along with a dash of hop bittereness... a nice lingering way to remember a good drink. JPDIPSO (4928), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2002 As a un-fan of brown ales this is one of the tops in my history. As good a looking beer as any. A wonderfully clear rudy/amber color with a light tan, unassuming head. Reminds me of ’Cracker Jacks’ - Toffee and nutty. Smooth with a mild malt finish. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jul 14, 2003 Chocolate nutty aroma with a hoppy background. Dark brown pour with nice tan head. Flavor is very complex for a brown ale, almost like a porter with it's amount of chocolate malt. It's malty and acidic on the palate and one of the best brown ales ever, hazelnut is the way to go with these all the way. Tmoney99 (4777), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
