Aromas are lots of hazelnut with lots of weetabix malts and chocolate. Flavours are sweet chocolate and toast malts with weetabix and some burnt notes. The nuttiness is resinous and fairly syrupy. Dry on the finish with more nuttiness on the aftertaste. Some light metallic notes. Good. anders37 (4666), Malmö, Sweden

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 29, 2004 I was very impressed with this one. It pours deep brown, with a subdued head. The first sip provided a blast of hazenut flavor, with a good sweetness. Hints of caramel, toffee, almonds, and brown sugar presented themselves. The finish was smooth and malty, with a nice hop kicker. A wonderful brown ale. Lubiere (4528), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2007 Dark ruby with an off-white head. Intense aroma of molasses, malt and caramel. Sweet flavour with nuts and caramel, going into a dry finish. Too sweet and simple for me. Ernest (4487), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2003 Updated: Jan 26, 2005Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, nutty, toasted dark bread), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of hazelnut, butterscotch, and brown sugar. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation. A bit sticky sweet and rough in the mouth (most Rogue beers, I’ve noticed, grate on the palate somewhat), but one of the ballsiest browns there is. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2001 Best thing about this: the head, beautiful in color and dissipates very slowly for the style. Indicates higher-than-usual carb, which turns out to be right. For me, the above-average carbonation & hoppiness detract a bit, but the flavor is exceptionally complex, and I have to say the nose is one of the best, malty as all get out. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic
