Strong candied hazelnut aroma here; the flavor is woody and sweet with a tangy bitter finish. The beer is a tad watery which detracts from the unique and yummy flavorings. Sweet nutty, roasted malt taste, slightly chocolate taste. A very good friend to me once described this as tasting like a "chocolate stick". I don't quite know what was meant by that, but it works for me. gunnfryd (3615), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 15, 2005 Chocolate brown color with a medium head. Sweet aroma of nuts. There’s definitely a hazelnut blast in the taste. Sweet maple syrup and brown sugar round it out. Malty base; the hops never really show up. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 16, 2005 On draught at Barleys in Knoxville, Feb 2005. Thick looking, transluscent brown body, but a very rapidly disappearing beige head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, pac-men and honey. Flavor has a big dose of chocolate and hazelnut up front. While I can’t say the hazelnut is wonderfully authentic (I’d rather it was fresh ground hazelnut then the syrupy sweet tasting extract) tasting, it is at least, not overdone. Honey, maple and light caramel round out the flavor, with a finish of maple-cream butter and more chocolate malts. Little hops apparency, just some earthiness. Body, was sadly quite light and watery. Perhaps the kegs having traveled so far hurt the beer, so I will have to try this one again. It didnt taste old though, so I’m not sure. Low carbonation. gnoff (3576), Göteborg, Sweden

Sweet chocolate, a bit raissin scent. Salty and yet sweet taste. Hazelnut flavored coffee dominates the aftertaste. Mineral water and melted chocolate ice-cream with nuts body and taste. Rather dry finish. Medium low bitterness, normal mouthfeel.
