Smells nutty. I like that. Tastes a lot like Hazelnut which is not a good thing but a great thing! Ha ha. Probably the best brown ale I’ve ever had. Rogue never fails to impress. Such a great brewer. I drank this out of a Tumbler. n49921 (108), USA

Aroma is hazelnut, with a hint of malt. Taste is a nice smooth hazelnut, with a bit of nut. Finishes very smooth, with a little hops at the end. Wonderful beer. Smells like caramel, toffee and are you ready for this? Hazelnut. Great nutty caramel flavor. I love Brown Ales and this is definitly one of my favorites. rampmaster (322), Alden, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 22oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Its body has a deep dark reddish brown color with lighter reddish highlights. The head is big and foamy and has a nice light tan color. It also has very good retention and makes cool splotchy lace that is slick and slowly sides down the sides of the glass.
Smell: The aroma is malty sweet, buttery and has an assertive nutty character.
Taste/Mouth feel: It has a wonderful roasted and buttery smooth nutty character. It is mildly sweet and creamy with little to no hop influence. The finish is mildly sweet and creamy as well and it has a solid medium body. On the tongue it has a slick and silky smooth texture with soft carbonation.
Notes: This is a heavenly Brown Ale.

I grew up in a town with a lot of filbert (hazelnut) farms and this thing takes me back to my childhood with that aroma, nothing else permeates the smell. The mouthfeel is sticky and creamy and very sweet but not annoyingly so. This is the best brown ale I’ve ever had, and I am super craving one at this very second. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA

Just a little bit sweeter than I like. Tried it bottled about a year ago and wasn’t much impressed - I really liked it on tap though. I’d give it 4.2 bottled and 4.7 on tap.
