Medium tan head. Mouthfeel is on the thin side, but silky as well - a beautiful blend of maltiness and nutty flavour. Not much hop presence until the end. And then after that, you really get the hazelnut after you’ve put your glass down and contemplated. I really enjoyed this brown ale - a little more body and it would be perfect for the style.
Had this at the Rogue pub in San Franciso in November 05 and loved it even more - it seemed to have much more body and was bursting with flavour - easily the best brown ale I have ever had and even better than the 4.1 bottle I originally rated. Bumped up marks for aroma, flavour and overall by 1 each. FROTHINGSLOSH (2010), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled from a22 oz brown bottle this beer pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head. There is a sweet hazelnut and coffee aroma. The texture is smooth and creamy. The flavor is very nutty, moderately roasty and slightly bitter on the lingering aftertaste. Wonderful. cigarsnbeer (146), Valley City, North Dakota, USA

Gentle sweetness, with a finish like the best fresh oysters from PEI. Slightly heavy on the HazelNut extract, but I overcame that quickly ;-) jcc83 (137), Athens, Georgia, USA

It poured a thick, earthy brown with a short-lived head, emitting luscious scents of hazelnut, caramel, and vanilla. The taste was a cascade of malty richness combining nuttiness, sweetness, and a buttery-smooth texture. Not much in the way of hops, but the sensational flavors left nothing to be desired. Truly an amazing beer by my standards, and definitely one of my new favorites.
