After pouring it into a pint class there wasn’t too much halzelnut aroma. I thought it was a hoax. But once it took a gulp..man alive! it was like drinking a hazlenut coffee coolatta! Daamit! Such a beer to savor. I bought 6 bottles to make sure everyone I knew could try it. This beer is one to introduce at a party...show uneducated Coors Light drinkers what kind of beer they can be trying. schwaiger (90), Laramie, Wyoming, USA

Pours a very clear saddle leather brown in your glass with an off-white, fizzy head diminishing fairly quickly. When held to the sun the brew becomes beet reddish - kind of purple even. This brown has an awesome, beautiful nose with the most immediately recognizeable aromas of cinnamon, hazelnut, and maple syrup. There’s also definately some deep orange in there; maybe some clove too. More beer huffing reveals a malty, doughy bread aroma. I’m excited to taste this. My first gulp is bliss, so I forget to take notes and finish half the bottle. Predominant flavors of dark chocolate, maple, and honey and a perfect balance of the sweet and tart. Nice, full, creamy body with soft carbonation and a long, lightly bitter finish that left me smiling without realizing it. Not a trace of alcohol in the smell or taste. I gulped down the second half of the bottle and made a note to buy a couple more cases. Caressingly smooth and infinitely satisfying - this is the best beer I’ve had all morning. Flavor is dominated by caramel malt and hazelnut roast. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Surprisingly delicious and a fine example of the style. One of my favorites from Rogue. mike4aker (25), USA

The nose is delicate (my allergy ridden sinuses couldn’t pick anything up at first, though after blowing my nose...). Milk chocolate, almost Nutella, given that distinct sweet hazelnut overtone. Just a touch of flowers at the end, though given the big malt, I suppose some more hops would’ve been nice for balance... though I don’t think that would be appropriate for a beer that smells like desert. Though this is a great tasting beer, I was immediately wowed by the palate--silky smooth with the tiniest bubbles I’ve ever encountered. Just enough viscosity to remain a session ale. This really nails the right mouthfeel for a brown, in my humble opinion. This brew really continues to shine in the flavor department. Huge malt, chocolatey and creamy sweet with just a hint of spicey hops at the end. The finish is a bit toasty for a brown, but I can’t say I’m complaining! The hazelnut isn’t as obvious in the flavor, but it sneaks out in the lactic aftertaste. This is one of the nicest session beers I’ve consumed. tcruicks (282), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

In appearance, its a nice dark brown, almost reddish color with a small to medium sized tan head. The aroma is chocolatey, sweet, almost milky- chocolate milkshake is coming to mind..., a touch of vanilla and brown sugar. It also tastes chocolatey and malty, but very nutty as well. Smooth and creamy, low carbonation- the palate is very appropriate for the flavours. willblake (2180), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Pours a deep walnut/reddish brown/dark amber as the glass empties; there is an ample head that is nice and creamy. Aroma is definitely as subtle as you might expect from an actual hazelnut, coffee, slight alcohol presence in nose seems appropriate for a brown ale. Taste is mildly roasty malt, coffee for sure...hazelnut coffee. Some ripe fruit in the taste, but that's also very subtle. Do I taste raw cookie dough and Bailey's? This beer may be more complex than I can handle rating. Wonderful!! The finish is dry with only a slight back-of-the-tongue bitter. Actually, the finish reminds me of room temperature coffee, too. Great beer. So much better than other brown ales I've had like Moose Drool and Newcastle (opposite ends of the brown ale spectrum). The body is insanely creamy in the beginning, but as it warms it becomes slightly more watery or thinner feeling, but the increased alcohol presence is great. Excellent beer!
