A dark brown with a frothy head that reduces to a nice lacing. A sweet hazelnut aroma and a complex nutty flavour dominate this wonderfully full bodied beer. A very sweet hazelnut aftertaste. Smooth and delicious.

Poured a nice dark brown with an enormous tan head that unfortunately did not last near long enough. The aroma was very malty with a very fruity note, and of course a nutty little bite. The flavor was great. It tasted like a well balanced brown ale with the essence of hazel nut poured into the bottle. Great mouthfeel, just excellent. This beer I feel is perfect for sitting back and drinking, it has the perfect flavor and is not so heavy that you can only drink a little before feeling opressed. Thank you Rogue for this fine Brown Ale.

Oh this is great. Mahogany with a beige head. Scent of hazelnuts and a bit of chocolate - nice, and not overpowering. Flavour is wonderfully balanced between bitter hoppiness and nutty sweetness. Smooth and not sticky sweet. Aftertaste is of hazelnut that gives way to a clean hoppiness. Balance is the ideal word here - a perfect balance between sweet and bitter. One 650 millilitre bottle was enough, but that is not to infer that this ale is too sweet. I am heading off to buy a dozen of the big bottles. An ale this good should be stocked up on.

Pours a nice dark, and mostly clear brown, with a large tan head, leaving a good lacing as it fades. Aroma is hazelnutty, of course, with some other cappucino-esque scents coming through. Taste becomes more malty, and the feel is a lot creamier than I would expect with any brown ale. A subtle sweetness coats the mouth as well, providing some caramel and toffee flavors. With all the differen malts going into this beer, the variety of malty tastes is not surprising, but it’s still impressive. The hazelnut flavors became apparanty as soon as I swallowed, making for a real nice dessert-like finish. No real hops noticed, any bitterness seemed only to accentuate the malts. This beer is much better than I remember from my beer-tasting infancy. Kudos to Rogue for doing something real nice and smooth, and keeping the IBUs away from where they don’t belong!

Nice... almost tasted like a porter... a little sweet, but overall a wonderful beer.

Chocolate nutty aroma with a hoppy background. Dark brown pour with nice tan head. Flavor is very complex for a brown ale, almost like a porter with it's amount of chocolate malt. It's malty and acidic on the palate and one of the best brown ales ever, hazelnut is the way to go with these all the way.

Dark dark amber thick large bubbled head sweet malty aroma. Mildly sweet nutty flavor with a bit of toasted bread pushing the hop envelope for a brown. A marvelous brown ale the best I have ever tried

Dark brown hue with good tan head and some lacing. Yep, there is hazelnut here but also detected coffee, chocolate, cherry, and cookie dough. Nice sweet and tart balance, some fresh hops show in the finish. Most of the aroma showed up on the palate, nice. A bit thin mouthfeel. A very nice brew indeed, shows all the characteristics I look for in a brown ale, plus a little bit more. The best brown I have ever tasted, edgeing out Samuel Smith and Bells. Highly recommended.
